Messages from the Edge, Letterpress Workshop

Event Details

Taking inspiration from the title of the ‘On the Edge’ exhibition, participants will create prints and add to them using a Letterpress type. They will use the type to add words or short phrases based on the messages that they ‘hear’ or wish to share about Cromer and their coastline.

Letterpress printing is a form of relief printing. The raised surface of blocks with letters or images is inked and pressed onto paper. Donna will give participants a very short introduction explaining the connection Norfolk has to Letterpress printing.

Then, taking inspiration from the title of the ‘On the Edge’ exhibition, she will invite participants to create prints and to add to them using her Letterpress type. They will use the type to add words or short phrases based on the messages that they ‘hear’ or wish to share about Cromer and their coastline.

Come along and use Letterpress type and a brayer to create unique prints onto fabric, inspired by the Cromer coastline and the art of Hendrik Werkman. Print a word, a phrase or a message to share with others.

The workshop is suitable for all ages. Please let us know of any additional needs.

All materials will be provided. You may wish to bring an apron.

This workshop is sponsored by the Central England Co-op. We are most grateful for their support. They will provide refreshments too.

We ask for a £3 booking fee per family (one adult and one or two children) to support the work of Cromer Artspace. Booking is necessary.
