9 August 2025 until 25 August 2025
Cromer Artspace’s Secret Auction returns this summer to help raise funds for the volunteer-run arts charity. The online auction—held on Cromer Artspace’s website—gives bidders the chance to buy original works of art by both well-known and as yet unknown artists. The twist is that the website only shows images of the works up for grabs and not who created them, inviting bidders to use their discerning eye to try and guess who made each piece.
Bidding starts at just £20, giving everyone the opportunity to take part and a chance to own a work of art. The auction starts on 9th August with final bids taken on 25th August at 9pm. All the works on offer will be on view at Artspace on the Prom in Cromer for the duration of the auction.
Cromer Artspace’s Secret Auction in 2023 included a work by the internationally renowned, Suffolk-born artist Maggi Hambling, and the sale raised over £5,000. This year’s auction includes an array of artists, some of whom have recently exhibited at the nearby Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts and Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery.

About Cromer Artspace
Cromer Artspace is a visual arts charity based on the North Norfolk Coast. Its team, made up entirely of volunteers, work to support and develop art in Cromer and the surrounding area and to actively engage more people from the community in art, making it accessible to everybody. Cromer Artspace aims to fill the gap between the opportunities available in big cities and its rural coastal location, helping the community to address health and well-being and to inspire people to extend their horizons and enjoy the arts. Cromer Artspace organises regular exhibitions, workshops and talks in its gallery Artspace on the Prom, located on promenade of Cromer beach, as well as in unexpected places around the town.
