To mark the start of the new year, through a series of writing exercises and group discussions of poems, in this interactive writing workshop we’ll explore change, surprise and newness in poems.
“James has introduced me to new ways to think about time, images and spaces through language. The poetry workshops have been an insightful companion to my painting practice.”
The workshop will be led by local writer & teacher James McDermott. James’s poetry collections include ‘Father Myself’ (Nine Arches Press), ‘Wild Life’ (Nine Arches Press; shortlisted for the East Anglian Book Award 2023) and ‘Manatomy’ (Burning Eye Books). James is an Arvon writing tutor and lecturer in creative writing at UEA.
There are 10 monthly workshops across 2026; you can book the whole series for £125 below. Note the series booking excludes the day workshop in July.
