Event Details
Step into a day of creative experimentation on the North Norfolk coast, where photography becomes playful, expressive, and wonderfully unpredictable. This immersive workshop invites you to push beyond the literal and discover new ways of making images through layered compositions, bold colour, and dynamic movement.
Across the day, you’ll explore how to build rich, atmospheric photographs using multiple exposures, blending textures, architectural details, and coastal elements into striking composite images. Whether you’re working with a camera that supports in‑camera layering or using the free Snapseed app on your phone or tablet, you’ll learn how to combine scenes from this beautiful location into images that feel dreamlike, abstract, and full of depth.
You’ll also dive into the world of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) – a technique that transforms slow shutter speeds and deliberate motion into painterly streaks, soft washes of colour, and expressive gestures. If you have ND filters or a polariser, they’ll help you experiment even further, but they’re not essential; curiosity is the only requirement.
Throughout the workshop, your tutor Julia will demonstrate each technique, guide you through practical exercises, and offer one‑to‑one support as you develop your own creative approach. After lunch, you’ll have dedicated time to shoot, refine your images, and assemble a small presentation of your work using Snapseed or your preferred editing software.
By the end of the day, you’ll leave with a collection of experimental photographs, a toolkit of new techniques, and a fresh sense of what’s possible when you let go of the rules and let creativity lead.
