Colour! Barrington Farm Artists in Cromer

BaringtonFarm1

This August, Artspace on the Prom is bursting into colour with a new exhibition celebrating the vibrant creativity of the Barrington Farm supported art studio in Walcott. Known affectionately as the Art Barn, the studio has built a reputation for bold, joyful and inventive work, and this exhibition brings that energy directly to the Cromer seafront.

Founded in 1988, Barrington Farm is a unique, independent day centre for adults with learning difficulties. At the heart of the centre is the Art Barn, a supported studio with an international reputation for the quality and originality of the work produced there. The spacious, open‑plan studio is equipped with a wide variety of materials, enabling artists to explore different media, develop their skills and discover their own creative voices.

Around 20 local artists attend regularly, working alongside trained artist facilitators who use a non‑intervention approach that encourages independence, personal expression and creative decision‑making. Over nearly four decades, Barrington Farm has nurtured a remarkable community of artists whose work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. The studio remains a place where creativity, individuality and artistic ambition are encouraged and celebrated.

The artists work across a wide range of disciplines, but this exhibition brings them together through a shared focus on colour: colour as expression, colour as joy, colour as a way of seeing the world.

This exhibition has been kindly supported by the East Anglia Art Fund, Norfolk Community Fund, Cromer Artspace, Incatern Ltd, and The Barrington Farm Trust.

Late Opening & Fashion Walk — Thursday 6 August, 6–8pm

Our late opening becomes something magical. Artists will model textiles from the Barrington Farm collection in a joyful fashion walk; expect colour, character and a touch of theatre as their designs come to life.

This exhibition is a celebration of creativity, community and the power of supported studios. We’re delighted to welcome Barrington Farm back to Cromer and to share their work with visitors throughout the summer.
